Khmer & English Library

Bridge of Life School has offered a small library with a limited selection of English text books from our beginnings.  It was originally housed in a family home and , when the first school was built, was set-up in the back.  At first our selection was limited to a few texts but it slowly increased overtime through volunteer donations.

Shortly after our opening we realized the nearby public school already had a room with a furnished library by Room to Read.  While the library was beautiful it had been locked up since it's construction because the organization did not staff it with a librarian.  The public school was already underfunded and could not afford to staff it.  Out of feer the books would be stoled they kept the library locked up everyday and students were unable to access any of the books or educational games.

We partnered with the public school in 2010 and moved all of our own matierals into the existing library.  We cleaned the room, refurbished and redecorated, and then hired a trained librarian.  It is currently open 20 hours per week for students to use before and after classes.  In addition to reading materials it now has educational games and small tables where students can sit and work.

Recently donated books are now being sent to Kompong Thom.  We have added shelving and are slowlying filling it up with both Khmer & English materials.  If you are interested in donating books please let us know.
